Race Day

The race will begin in Cass, WV and will run downhill to Stillwell Park in Marlinton.  We will have a "kiss and run" point where you can be dropped off by your family to met by them at the finish line.  If you are running and your family is unable to join you or you prefer to be picked up at your hotel, we will have shuttle service the morning of the race.  Shuttles will be available to select hotels and campgrounds in the Marlinton and surrounding areas.  Please call ahead before booking your hotel to make sure a shuttle service will be available for your chosen place to stay.

Fall in Marlinton is typically cold and sometimes rainy.  Due to the fact that this event is the inaugural running of the GRT Marathon, we will be unable to provide you with heat sheets or panchos at the finish line.  Please plan accordingly.  We will have hot drinks, hoodies and other apparel for purchase at the finish line the day of the race.

Because the races are run on a trail through a forest and along the scenic Greenbrier River, we are unable to have spectators along the entire length of the trail. We will have "fueling" stations every 1.5 miles with volunteers at each stop and spectators will be allowed to gather at different designated points on the trail, but aside from that, due to the safety of the runners we will not allow spectators on other parts of the trail.  We encourage you to enjoy the natural sounds of the course from the river, the wind, the birds and if nature allows, the rain.  If you enjoy music during your run, we encourage you to bring along your portable devices and run with them along the trail.  But we do recommend that this be a "get-back-to-nature" run so you might not want to bring your headphones with you.  It's your choice.
